Flip Cover & Insert Review

Flip covers were one of the first few things on my list when I first made the decision to use cloth diapers. I was lucky enough to try one out before I even purchased one (thanks to Victoria). I had to be careful with what brands I bought because both of my little ones aren't necessarily fat but definitely have some meaty thighs. Anyways, I immediately fell in love with the Flip Covers and the inserts that they come with. They're fabulous with just 1 Flip insert if you only need it for a few hours, but if you stuff a prefold (old school cloth diaper) inside the cover and then put the flip cover over top of it, it actually works as an overnight*.
*Depending on how often/much your child urinates during the night.*

The great thing about the Flip inserts is that they are super absorbent. They can hold my 20 month old for about 2 hours just by themselves. I especially like that they are labeled with the size on the insert itself, all you have to do is fold to the size you need!

Flip comes in fabulous colors and prints. They fit both my 9 month old and my 20 month old comfortably. There's no bulky fluff getting in the way, but they're still protected so I know that I can trust leaving them in that diaper if I need to make a quick run to the post office or the grocery store.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Flip to anybody who is cloth diapering. It's multiple diaper changes with ONE cover (just change the insert!) *keep in mind, that's only if the baby does not poop - then it needs to be washed before another use*

At 16.95 for a cover AND one stay dry insert, you can't beat that!

Next Review: Rumparooz (Snap & Aplix)

Review Time!

Alrighty,

Now, the sole purpose of this blog is to do reviews on baby products (mainly cloth diapers & accessories), but other products will also be included! A majority of my reviews to start out will be all of the diapers included in my stash, my wet bag, and a Boba 3G carrier!

Obviously I had all intentions of shooting for just cloth diapers & accessories hence the name of the blog, however, throughout I plan to highlight how things are going with cloth diapering while still incorporating any and all other baby products that are out on the market!

Fun Fact: If you want to know what the next review will be..check at the bottom of each review previously posted... :)

My decision to switch..

I started off buying disposables when I had my first little one (he is now 20 months old). I guess I didn't really think anything about the financial aspect of it, but I was also not in the loop with the new and improved cloth diapers (I think I was stuck in the era of prefolds and safety pins!).

I continued to purchase disposables -- and of course, I had to use Pampers because my child has sensitive skin so there wasn't the option of "oh hey, I can save money with off brand diapers". Well, after my second was born (he just turned 9 months old) I started looking at numbers when it came to buying diapers for TWO children now instead of just one.

Luckily, my fabulous neighbor, Victoria, just so happens to not only use cloth diapers but she sells them as well! You can visit her facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/diaperpartiesbyvictoria to get more information or even place an order through her! She showed me her stash and the benefits of cloth over disposables (not to mention how cute they are) and I was immediately hooked. She even put my littlest (who is a michelin man and a chubby lumpkin) in a Swaddlebees AIO in a dinosaur print and it was probably the cutest thing I have ever seen on my baby! I talked to my husband and the next payday we spent about $300 to start our stash. Our decision to switch has saved us money in just the past month. Not only have we switched from disposable diapers, but we now also use CLOTH wipes!!
Now - here's the secret to that - instead of buying cloth wipes from a lot of websites that may charge more (simply because it's their brand and trust me, I don't knock it because I have cloth wipes from cottonbabies) you can easily go to walmart or target, spend a few dollars on a pack or two of baby wash cloths and BAM -- instant cloth wipes! *PS, you can google wipe solutions online*

Since then, we've spent maybe another $80 and added a few more diapers to our stash and we couldn't be happier! Not only are we saving money now, but when we decide to have more children later -- the diapers we have NOW can be used then! :)
